Winter is far from over in South Dakota and there are many more families asking for firewood to stay warm. The temperature is up to 1* as of this writing.
One Elder's Story
After delivering wood to 26 different homes in 3 days and calls for wood still coming in due to the extreme cold, Bamm realized that many of the people who had no wood, also had no food.
One elder said she only had beans and rice for the last 3 days and was tired of it. So, when Bamm arrived, he could see there were no vehicle tracks in the snow...no one had checked on her for days. There were not even foot tracks on her wheelchair ramp.
Because of your kind donations, we were able to bring her not only firewood, but also a food box of beef and buffalo burgers, beef stew, apples, onions, carrots, potatoes and hot cocoa.
A Grateful Wood Recipient
"I contacted One Spirit before last week's storm. And I received a load of wood. Without that wood thru that last freeze? I don't know..I have a little boy and my woodstove is my main source of heat. So from my son and I. We are deeply grateful for your help and time...may Tunkasila bless you and your families thru out the year. Wopila."
Please donate as you are able to help us provide much needed food and firewood.
