Okini Program
(Urgent Needs)

Urgent Needs

Okini is a Lakota word meaning to share material things. A ONE Spirit goal is to help strengthen families by sharing the material things with which most of us are blessed. It is extremely difficult to be a strong family when there is no food, no heat in winter, or the home is without electricity. It becomes even more harrowing if you have a child who needs medical treatment that can only be obtained at some distant facility and you cannot afford the expense of the trip. Or when a parent has health problems that are not adequately treated. When these urgent needs are not met through a government or tribal program, ONE Spirit provides help to the limit of available funds.
You can help us to meet the critical needs of Lakota families. Whether we warm a home, put food on the dinner table, or buy a pair of shoes, together we can help a family provide security for their children.

The ONE Spirit Clothing Collection Program

There is a year-round need for clothing of all kinds for people of all ages on the Pine Ridge Reservation.
The need is especially severe in the winter, when temperatures plummet in South Dakota.

The ONE Spirit Clothing Collection program needs a volunteer program manager to handle the logistics of taking in donations, transporting them to the reservation, and getting them distributed at that end.

More to come here about the Clothing Collection program.
